2026 Term 1 Newsletter

We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone back to dance for 2026!

We are so excited to see all of our beautiful LCDA family again and we can’t wait to meet many new little dancers.

2026 TERM DATES

Term 1 starts on Saturday 31st January. Not Friday 30th January as previously stated on some enrolment emails.

Term 1, Saturday 31st January – Thursday 2nd April

Term 2, Monday 20th April-Saturday 4th July

Term 3, Monday 20th July-Saturday 26th September

Term 4, Monday 12th October-Concert

Please remember the Academy does not have pupil free days like the education system.

DROP OFF & PICK UP at LCDA

All students young and old will be collected by their teacher at the start of their lesson, from the Birdwood Lane entrance.

Where possible students should arrive dressed & ready for their class. If students are arriving straight from school, they may enter the building 5mins before their lesson to change but then should return to the Birdwood Lane entrance to be collected by their teacher. Students must be able to dress themselves when they arrive.

Having this system in place ensures the safely of our students, meaning our staff know who has arrived for their class and where they are in the Academy.

Students who are attending multiple classes in a day will be accompanied from one class to the next. Younger classes have assistant teachers who will help students change their shoes & uniform between classes. Please ensure that all parts of your child’s uniform are labeled.

At the end of their lesson, students will be brought back down the stairs to be collected from the Birdwood Lane entrance at Lane Cove Dance Academy.

Only enrolled students and staff are permitted to enter the Academy and only during their scheduled class time.

No adults, other than LCDA staff, will be allowed in the Academy. This is to ensure the safety of all students.

UNIFORM

Uniform is an important part of attending dance classes at LCDA. Our uniform helps dancers focus, perform safely and feel part of our community.

Please make sure your child is in the correct uniform for all classes. Each year group is assigned a different colour, this helps students feel a sense of belonging as well as to help teachers guide students to the correct studios, especially in their first couple of weeks.

Proper attire helps dancers look & feel their best and minimises distractions in the class, allowing students to fully concentrate on their training. All ballet students (Kindergarten age & above) must have their hair in a ballet bun if they wish to participate in class. For all other dance styles students must have their hair up.

Please do not wear jewellery or watches into any dance class.

TERM 1 INVOICE

If you have completed a permanent enrolment, your Term 1 Invoice is now available.

To view and pay your invoice visit lcda.com.au and click on the ‘Family Portal’ button.

If you use the ThinkSmart portal for other activates, you may need our company code; YMEYUYAH

If you are attending a trial lesson during the first week of term, we are really looking forward to meeting you. If your child would like to continue after the trial, just send us an email and we will finalise their enrolment.

Some classes are already full or very close to capacity so please enrol now so you don’t miss out.

2026 CONCERT DATES

Our annual concert, held in December, is the highlight of the year for all students and parents. It also involves extra rehearsals at LCDA and a dress rehearsal on stage prior to the performances.

Rehearsal at LCDA – Sunday 22nd Nov

Photo Day at LCDA – Sunday 29th Nov

Rehearsal at Glen St Theatre – Tuesday 8th Dec (during school hours)

Concerts at Glen St Theatre –  Thursday 10th, Friday 11th & Saturday 12th Dec

Pre-School Concert Dates

Photo Day at LCDA – Sunday 29th Nov

Concert at Glen St Theatre –  Saturday 12th Dec

The Academy has an OPT OUT policy regarding participation in the end of year performance. This means we assume all students will participate in ALL performances for the academy in the classes they are enrolled in. You must advise the Academy by 1st June 2026 if your child is not participating in the concert, otherwise the academy assumes you will be in the concert and a costume will be ordered.  Once ordered, the full cost of the costume will be payable by you.

The price is $55.00 for each show which will be provided as a 108HD video file.

Photos taken at our photo day can now be viewed and purchased from Philippe Penel Photography.
